Hydro Power

Moulin de Courcelles has operated as a hydro power site for over 1000 years. To restore it to its original purpose requires substantial administrative efforts. It is a long and arduous process involving multiple departments.

Restoring the hydro power capability is necessary out of respect for the historic and ecological integrity of the site. Preservation, nurturing and sustaining both historical and ecological contributions from this mill.

Hydropower is the world's largest source of renewable energy and plays a vital role in reducing the world's dependence on carbon. As a renewable energy, it is important that hydropower is also developed sustainably. Bi.cycle Power produces Hydro Power in a sustainable and responsible manner including the environmental, social, technical and economic aspects of the project. Small run of the river projects have little or no environmental impact.  Water power is a proven, efficient and sustainable form of energy production and has been widely used for over 2000 years.

On 7 February 2018, the hydro power was once again operating using a Watec compact Kaplan turbine with 100 kW install power and a PMG generator, enough to supply 75 average households in France.
